Patient Preparation

For Positron Emission Tomography

• Nothing to eat or drink, except for water, for 6 hours prior to the procedure. No heavy exercise, nicotine, caffeine, alcohol or stimulants for 12 hours prior to the exam. If you are diabetic, please notify our office for special instructions.
• Please bring any outside imaging studies at the time of the exam.
• Patients should expect the entire study to last approximately 90 minutes.
