Technologists

What is a Technologist?

Radiology Technologists are responsible for conducting the technical aspect of your study at MDR. All technologists at Manhattan Diagnostic Radiology Picture of a Technologist are fully accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed with the State of New York. In addition, our technologists are further accredited in their subspecialties. For example, all Mammography technologists are accredited by the ARRT in a separate credentialing process to perform mammography and other breast procedures. All our Ultrasound Technologists are Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) with specialization in abdominal and pelvic, breast and vascular ultrasound. All Nuclear Medicine and PET Technologists are accredited by both the ARRT in Nuclear Medicine and the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), and are members of the Society of Nuclear Medicine.

The responsibilities of each MDR Technologist are as follows:

  • Prepares the patient for their diagnostic study, including providing instructions in a clear manner.
  • Follows established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Obtains and reviews the patient’s pertinent medical history.
  • Processes radiologic images for interpretation by the radiologist.
