Screening Studies

Cardiac Calcium Scoring

The MDR Cardiac Calcium Scoring Study is a simple, non-invasive scan that measures the amount of calcium in your coronary arteries, an indicator of potentially significant coronary artery disease. The calcium score is helpful in predicting the risk of atherosclerotic cardiac disease before the symptoms of heart disease appear. The study is useful for women ages 40-70 and men ages 35-70 with risk factors such as family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes and obesity.

Patient Preparation:

We advise patients not to exercise or consume caffeine or alcohol the day of the study. Scanning time is approximately 15 minutes. No intravenous contrast is administered for the test. The study will only be performed with a written prescription from your doctor.
